My Heart is a satchel of jewels,
Some from Hinduism
Some from Buddhism,
Some from Sufism,
Some from Christianity...
Some from Paths long forgotten.
In each of these Paths,
Mystics have arisen,
Who transcended the religiosity,
Inherent in each 'ism,
And found, as the founders had...
The jewel which gave birth to each Path.
Not the description of "reality",
The prescriptions and proscriptions,
The admonitions of thus and such,
Or culture and theology,
Accrued over ages, and codified.
The jewel which gave birth to each Path
Was, before the arising of words...
A Subjective Experience,
Prior to interpretation and description,
But clothed, eventually, in...
Concepts, theory, and conjecture.
My Heart is a satchel of jewels,
Shining in wordless Glory,
Which, though found upon this Path or that,
Are not "of" any Path,
Or description of "Truth".
How laughable, this notion of "Truth",
The diverse descriptions of "reality",
The many Paths held as Absolute,
Above all others,
And fought for so viciously.
My Heart is a satchel of jewels,
Which, once fallen "Within",
Lose the coloration of the Paths
Upon which I found them,
For where Formlessness Shines as Form...
All colors vanish into... White.

I wish spiritual teachers were less emphatic,
Saying with certitude and authority that they know,
That thus is so, and this is what it all means,
Presenting logic to "prove" their assertions.
Can the Heart's Desire be "proven", lawyerly?
It seems to me -- and this is only my feeling,
That they are simply stating their View or Stance,
Their interpretation and description,
Of their experience in relationship to this...
Incomprehensible Mystery.
So many seem unable to avoid,
The compulsion, explicit or implicit
To place their experience,
In a "hierarchy of awakening"...
A hierarchy of "Truth".
A friend teaches emphatically,
That Bliss comes and goes,
And is not to be confused,
With the "Absolute".
He states with certitude,
That Peace, Happiness, and Joy,
Rather than transient, elusive Bliss,
Are the hallmarks of living as "Consciousness".
This must be his experience,
For I know the man,
And he would not teach,
What is not his Own.
But... this is not my experience,
In which Peace, Happiness, and Joy,
Come and go, transient and elusive,
Against a background of ever-present Bliss.
What to do with these differences,
And the miriad others,
Within Hinduism, and Buddhism,
And all the vast and varied faiths...
And the vast and varied views within each?
One thing seems fruitful to me,
To endeavor, always,
To speak of my Experience,
As simply that...
My Experience.
Knowing nothing of "Truth",
Or enlightenment, more so, or less so,
Or awakening, more so, or less so,
Knowing nothing...
Even "of" my own Experience.
I write never to instruct or inform,
On what is so,
Or what it all means,
But only always, to...
Evoke.
If ever I speak emphatically,
Know with certainty,
That the seeming assertion is always,
Arising from my Heart...
As a question.
A question posed,
Not from one who "knows"
To one who "does not"...
But from a Friend awash in Wonder...
To a Friend awash in Wonder.
