Not the other way ‘round.
When you have not yet arrived.
While you are yet still a bud.
By that which you sought to discover.
By that which you sought to embrace.
While you are yet far from Perfect.
In the Heart of your Deepest Interiority.

only a green thing
which stands in the way.
As a man is,
so he sees.

how dumbly eloquent!
What suggestions of imperturbability and being,
as against the human trait of mere seeming.
Then the qualities, almost emotional, palpably artistic,
heroic, of a tree;
so innocent and harmless,
yet so savage.
It is, yet says nothing.

My Mother’s Hands
by Gina Rae La Cerva
We lost a necessary reverence for the wild
and for the feminine.

the act of foraging is still
too closely associated
with poverty and survival to be pleasurable.
The reminiscent shame
too close in time and space.
we must rest in our doubt.
We must embrace the dark and the quiet again.
So that we might practice
the lost art of deep listening
and patience.
The quiet wisdom of observation.
we might renew is that of
how to be present in the unknown,
of how to be always
in the state of becoming.

AA Promises
(From pages 83-84 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous)
If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are halfway through. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Selfseeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook on life will change. Fear of people and economic insecurity will leave us.
We will intuitively know
how to handle situations which used to baffle us.
We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us
what we could not do for ourselves.
Are these extravagant promises?
We think not.
They are being fulfilled among us
- sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.
They will always materialize if we work for them.
