When we domesticate our minds and hearts,
we reduce our lives.

you would still be dissatisfied.
Why?
Because others cannot give you what you really need.
You must work to acquire it.
What you really need is to become more reasonable,
stronger, more patient and more enlightened –

Just as I suspected, my great great grandfather
was a monarch butterfly.
Much of who I am is still wriggling under a stone.

....this afternoon the water crept up gently and VERY far by surprise every now and then.... had to run out of ocean to rescue self-timer camera two times...
....before the water reached it.

The Afternoon Beach Time at Remembrance Rock was/IS so BEYOND WORDS
all we want to do is share
most all of the photos .....without words...

however want to say towards the end....where i am on Baubo Belly by Rock...
suddenly we were Re-Experiencing the birthing from Sea Creature to human form......
...AND was EXTRA wobbly after that Experience
which probably lasted at least 5-10 minutes,
(though had NO sense of earthly time)
with breaker after breaker and criss-crossing strong undertow...
...had to hang onto sand to keep from getting pulled out.

These are probably too many words,
but just "had" to say this much.

LONG AGO...nearly 30 yrs ago,
i Spontaneously Knew/Experienced this spot by Rock
as Being where we Emerged from Sea the first time
...that has Held with me for years...

TODAY
this was a Spontaneous Happening...
absolutely no thoughts of it or "planning"...
...suddenly IT was Happening.....

The vastness of the question
The contradictory feelings of hope and hopelessness,
meaning and flatness, anxiety and rest.
The shakiness and uncertainty in the belly.
The tightness in the throat.
The raw breaking inside the heart.
The joy that at times is there, but never can seem to be sustained.

All the techniques, the teachings, the things to manifest,
the new beliefs to take on, the worn-out ideas
about the true source of peace, aliveness, and flowing abundance.
Perhaps there were once answers to these questions,
but now there is no answer to be found.
Only a burning where the questions once existed.

This burning is the doorway,
the portal,
pure evidence of the connection.

A cosmic sort of exhaustion
can come at times,
where we find ourselves in the bardo
between one moment and the next.
We can’t quite go back to the way it was,
but the rebirth has yet to appear.
There is a creativity in the liminal
but it can seem out of reach.

We are asked to marinate in the womb of now,
tend to the groundlessness, and find refuge in the unknown:
to be midwife to the darkened illumination.
There are signs and symbols and guidance all around and inside us,
but their appearance is governed
by a timeline written somewhere else.

As we bear witness to a new day, in awe at the gift that has been given…
the breath is here.
The heart is quivering.
The birds have come.
Sounds from the other world,
another opportunity to hear,
to behold the miracle of the senses.

The sun has come up again.
The moon is hiding nearby waiting her turn.
For just one moment,
the veil parts and the perfection is there
awaiting our participation.

Your life is not an unending self-improvement project
and your heart is not a venture to be undertaken, mastered, and completed.
Perhaps today was never going to be the day
when you figured it all out,
got all your questions answered,
or resolved the contradictions.

It's just too wild for all that.
Just too creative.
Just too alive.

Today may not be the day for answers,
but to let your heart break open
to the vastness of the question.

To fall to the ground as a humble lover of the mystery.
And listen once again.

If there is anything needed in spiritual teaching,
in seeking truth, in self-realization,
it is the refinement of the ego.
For the same ego which begins by being our worst enemy,
will in the end,
if developed and cultivated and refined,
become our best friend.

Honoring The Mystery

The Great Hall is full as we await his arrival. Master begins:

Suppose someone is one hundred years of age. It has been one hundred
years of becoming; becoming this, becoming that.
But these becomings, these movements from infant to adolescent to adult
to old man are changes appearing in the changeless.
Becoming is always of what one is not, it is always a movement away
from, a fractionalization of, what one is.
Let us not preoccupy ourselves with becoming.
Let us stay here, be here,
be.
Let us now return to the silence for a time.

Master Wu Hsin continued:

It is, in a way, perverse that there is so little to really discuss.
All there is, is being and the knowledge of being. This is irrefutable.
The discussion should end here because all else is conceptual and can be
argued endlessly.
Yet, we continue talking.
What must be made clear is that the brain is an object. As such, anything
resulting from brain activity cannot be subjective.
The subjective, the Single Subject, therefore remains elusive.

Let us now return to the silence for a time.

Master Wu Hsin continued:

One need not make any effort to be, to see, to taste, to smell, etc. All of it
occurs spontaneously.
Likewise, that which is seen, tasted, and smelled also arises and sets
spontaneously. The day begins spontaneously and ends spontaneously.
You don't will yourself to sleep or to awaken.
So, who is doing anything?
Where is the need for various practices in order to become what you
already are? See it, then be It.

Here is the only place and now is the only moment
in which to look for how to live who and what you are.
Going home, knowing who and what we are and why we are here,
is not something we have to earn by getting it right,
choosing perfectly, or trying harder.
Sometimes work is required, sometimes pain is endured.
Loss is an inevitable part of being human.

The reality we live is impermanent, constantly changing.
Knowing this, facing the impermanence of our reality,
we may be tempted to move away from loving deeply
to protect ourselves from feeling the inevitable losses so acutely.
But that would simply be fighting another aspect of the reality of being human,
the reality of loving fiercely,
of appreciating deeply
and so being attached to the beauty we experience
with the people and places and things we love.

Being human means we are not detached,
we are deeply connected to and affected by life.
This is what it means to answer the call,
to commit to being here in a human life,
as a human being:
to love what is mortal,
to love what is unpredictably changing and impermanent,
to love while being mindful that everything,
every person, every place, every moment
we love will change and pass, but to love anyway.

And to love what you love fiercely, no-holds-barred,
nothing held back,
to hold it against your bones
knowing your own life depends on it,
knowing that the reality of who and what you are as a human being
is inseparable from this body, this world, this life you claim and inhabit fully.
And when the time comes to let it go
- and no one can ever predict or control when that time will come-
to let it go…..
