that enables us to refrain from mental reaction
to what is seen or heard.

As long as man has someone or something
to which he can cling or hold onto,
he will not find God.

Most people today want a God they can use.
Humanity has not yet learned the great lesson

This “no-power” means a state of consciousness

Consciousness, or Soul, what we call God,
reveals and expresses Itself
as a spiritual universe in which
there is no conception and no birth.
Creation is thus the immaculate conception of God
emanating Itself as the substance
of individual identity,
whether as human, animal, vegetable,
or mineral forms.

way to stop thinking:

When problems of any sort come that tempt us
to be hypnotized once again by the
appearance of good and evil and to
step right outside Eden,

like these require fortitude.

This is also when the grace of God
comes forward to enable us to stand fast
in our spiritual integrity and the truth of
“no-power.”

It is only the knowledge of good and evil that keeps
an individual from the holy kingdom.

infuse the food with poisonous particles,
and in eating them,
they poison themselves.

So thought also has a part to play during meals.

People’s concept of happiness is always more or less tied to possessions:
money, a house, a car, a job, friends, a spouse and children.
They are unhappy until they are able to obtain them,
and should they come to lose them,
it is a disaster.

But the day you manage to discover what true happiness is,
you will understand that in reality
it does not depend on any object, any possession, or any other being,
because it comes from elsewhere
– from the realm of the soul and the spirit.

True happiness is a state of consciousness
that even life’s hardships and tribulations cannot trouble,
precisely because it does not depend on any external or material condition.

This happiness can only be attained
by diving into the ocean of universal harmony
by means of thought.

It is like something as natural as breathing:

But there is a Taoist spirit there too, it seems to me,

that both great Chinese traditions seek the same goal:
harmony.
With that in mind, it may be the case that
Confucianism is the heavy, masculine yang,
and Taoism is the light, feminine yin
— and both are necessary, one stronger than the other,
depending on the context.

These wild people call the Masters, “The Men from the Sun,”
and when the Masters go among them for the prisoners they do not resist.

When someone proposes a policy
inspired by generosity and concern for the most deprived,
very few people decide to support them.
But if they talk about
overthrowing the powers that be
to seize the positions and privileges they exercise,
this person is backed by a crowd.
What conclusion can we draw?
That humans still need to suffer.

Perhaps one day, because of their suffering,
they will come to understand what concerns and activities
will help them to flourish.
You think I am cruel?
No, it saddens me to say so,
but humans need to suffer in order to understand.
When a messenger from heaven appears
– someone who can enlighten them on the direction to take –
not only do they turn a deaf ear,
but they often persecute them.

And when a criminal comes along who will lead them to disaster,
they welcome them, they cheer them on and carry them to power –
it is they themselves who provide the criminal
with the means to destroy them.
So, it is clear:
humans need to suffer
in order to understand once and for all
to whom they must listen
and whom they should follow.

The final victory in the battle of life for every soul
is when he has abandoned,
which means when he has risen above,
what once he valued most.
For the value of everything exists for man
only so long as he does not understand it.
When he has fully understood, the value is lost,
be it the lowest thing or the highest thing.
It is like looking at the scenery on the stage and taking it for a palace.
Such is the case with all things of the world;
they seem important or precious when we need them or when
we do not understand them;
as soon as the veil which keeps man from understanding is lifted,
then they are nothing.

Do not, therefore, be surprised at the renunciation of sages.
Perhaps every person in the spiritual path must go through renunciation.
It is not really throwing things away or disconnecting ourselves from friends;
it is not taking things to heart as seriously
as one naturally does by lack of understanding.
No praise, no blame is valuable;
no pain or pleasure is of any importance.
Rise and fall are natural consequences,
so are love and hatred;
what does it matter if it be this or that?
It matters so long as we do not understand.
Renunciation is a bowl of poison no doubt,
and only the brave will drink it;
but in the end it alone proves to be nectar,
and this bravery brings one the final victory.

What is the Experience of Nirvana?
My experience of Nirvana
(and I can only talk about my experience)
is the absence of everything.

Not just nothing being there,
but the absence of
everything.
It is like the black hole of everything.
It sucks up everything into a
vacuum or pure consciousness.

And what is left is pure light,
the most subtle level of consciousness and joy.
That is all there is.

When you are absorbed in this,
you exist only as very
subtle, infinite consciousness,
infinite joy, infinite goodness,
infinite light.

You no longer exist as a body,
a person, a mind,
as a being
or even as energy.

You no longer even have a center.
You disappear and what is left is pure light,
the most subtle infinite consciousness,
infinite peace.

People talk a lot about “knowledge” but in this,
there is the absence of all knowledge,
the absence of all understanding.

There is just pure, infinite,
consciousness at its most subtle form.

Weightless, lighter than even energy.
Pure transcendence, pure freedom.
It is a feeling of infinite goodness.

FIRE & LIGHT
All human beings eat, drink and breathe,
