Perhaps the most insidious aspect of Freedom
is when the Conscious Awareness You Are
‘has’ Awakened but is still obscured
by the archive of ‘learning’
that the mind has accumulated.

The false self [body-mind-identity]
has not yet been totally transformed
back into nothing-ness
and much faith continues to be placed
on the value of acquired knowledge.

This often inspires a very
subtle spiritual arrogance.

True Knowing is ‘emptiness’,
devoid of any ‘you-identity’.
There is no archive of information
and yet the knowledge available from
‘True Knowing’ is instantaneous
in the moment it is needed.

The death of the personal identity
is the only ‘real’ death and with it comes -
‘emptiness’.

When this occurs,
there is a profound ‘lightness’
based on ‘Being nothing’.

The slate of person-hood is wiped clean
and the Awareness that You Are
is fully revealed.

Awareness is then ‘aware’
of IT SELF as ONE …
as All That Is.

The Spiritual Work of Old Age

It is interesting to note that the Indian (Hindu) culture
puts the age for the most intense spiritual work
at the end of life, in old age.
When you get older you see more clearly
that you have very little physical or will power left
to create or even change situations in your life.

Every age has its own job or task,
and the task of old age is learning to live with loss of all kinds,
not just loss of people around you who pass away,
but also loss of your faculties,
of your ability to see clearly, hear well,
and move about in the world.

These things begin to fall away
and we must learn to let them go
because no amount of struggle will turn back the years.
It is in our acceptance that we see we need to deepen
our trust in God,
in what lies beyond our own effort.

In old age there is a loss of identity,
of who or what you have been to others and in the world.

Every older person knows personally
how it is to fade into invisibility.
These lessons, and the acceptance of their truth
teaches you about the end of self.

I have been at the bedside of people who were dying
and who had not particularly lived
what might be called a spiritual life in the modern jargon,
but who were good decent people,
people who believed in God.

There is a process that takes place with many of them
as they are going toward their death,
where they seem to realize the profundity
of what is happening to them and therefore
are able to let go with a kind of hopefulness.

This is the gradual erasing or transformation of self.
And when self begins to be transformed or to fade,
What Remains comes into view.

for more knowledge.
You can't get full eating this way.

The wise person dines on something more subtle:
He eats the understanding
that the named was born from the unnamed,
that all being flows from non-being,
that the describable world
emanates from an
indescribable source.

He finds this subtle truth inside his own self,
and becomes completely content.

So who can be still and watch the chess game of the world?
The foolish are always making impulsive moves,
but the wise know that victory and defeat
are decided by something more subtle.

They see that something perfect exists
before any move is made.
This subtle perfection deteriorates
when artificial actions are taken,
so be content not to disturb the peace.
Remain quiet.

Discover the harmony in your own being.

If you can do this,

and the world will become healthy again.

CRAVING LIFE
Even if ruins stink of rotten antiquity,
poor’s hands and mouths still search
for treasures in ruins, and one dense night
they get to lick one or the other edible pearls
and deposit them in their box of ‘everyday’.

There’s always hope in gutters;
there’s always a bright possibility lying wide awake
before the road bends towards End.
Those who aren’t willing to live haven’t lost faith in life,
but lost the loud murmurs of searchlights.

They want lightbearers,
to speak up the sign language of mirth
and to bless their empty lives
with green apples, oranges and pineapples.

But fruits are not to be blessed, but to be borne.
For million years onwards,
we are bearing our beards,
our judgments,
our smells and the rest of the billions’.

You are an imperfect product
of a long tiring chain
and that chaining effect can be shed,
even if others may tell you
that past can never be relinquished.

It cannot be forgotten, but it can be given up.

I don’t know what to call it, LaoTse didn’t either.
He chose to call it Tao.
Ineffable works, but doesn’t quite have the sweet ring I am looking for.
Calling it God causes too many complications.
I would prefer not to call it anything if can help it,
because there is no name it can be given.

What I do know,
is that one day,
with great joy and relief,
we find the government of this Unknowable Something
and we let go the need for the government of man and religion.

We find for ourself this Wonderful Ineffable Isness–
and we realize it is so much greater
than any human political system or religion can ever conjure up.

This Ineffable Isness all that is,
it is absolute and real and it shows us what love is.
It guides us with an Intelligence that transcends
the limited precepts we have been conditioned to accept as true.

We find the real government of Something Nameless –
and the government of man and religion loses its power.

We change the inside and the outside will change,
one by one, as we live it.
The Light is here and available to us all.
It is right here, within ourself.

We find this inner gift of knowing something else,
something besides,
and something more.
Here in our own heart
we feel the seamless fusion between
this Living Presence of Something Wonderful
and our own extraordinary life experience in this world.

We find freedom – the real freedom – freedom from fear.

We are intimately involved in this sweet and solitary,
one to one, love affair with this Holy Something.

We become our own authority,

because it has no special traits that can be criticized.

It cannot feel a sense of loss
because it is NOT attached

It ‘has’ no IDENTITY of any kind because it is Empty.

It knows ‘nothing’ because it does not accumulate historical knowledge …
it knows what it needs to know in the moment of It’s need.

There ‘is’ no ‘you’ …
there is only the SELF – ONE.

Lack of Awareness of this alone
is what has caused the grand dream
and the return to that Awareness
is your only Purpose …
until that occurs.

Why it is necessary for our survival

From the moment we fall asleep our soul moves away from our physical body
and goes to join the universal Soul.
During the body's rest, an entire process of cleansing and purification takes place.

keep the soul connected to the physical body

On its return,
the soul finds the house swept,

TRANSFORMING ANCIENT PATTERNS

The seemingly endless rays
[individual separated beings]
of the ONE we ‘are’,
when immersed in the delusion of separation,
take on a kaleidoscope of unique conditioning.

When one sleeps and dreams behind this veil,
they are subject to the dream of reincarnation
and in those many dream lives,
they ‘relive’ the conditioning over and over again
until a dreamer begins to AWAKEN
from their long slumber.
That one may choose to enter a dysfunctional lineage
that emphasizes a particular manifestation of conditioning
such as ‘abuse’ … with its many branches.

Life is transmitted and perpetuated by the sexual organs.
You must study the science and wisdom
that goes into creating these organs,
and respect them.

However, they are often the organs which are the least respected:
puritans consider them with disgust,
the debauched abuse them,
comedians and rude people joke about them,
and most men and women see them simply
as a source of enjoyment.

Initiatic Science tells us that the energy
that manifests through the genitals descends from the heavenly regions.

And because this energy descends from the heavenly regions,
humans would do well to think about
how they use their organs that enable this energy to manifest.

They should even dedicate them to the Divine,
so that, instead of allowing this energy to simply
pass through them and go to waste,
this cosmic energy of love
may rise up and vivify all the cells in their body,
including their brain.

If they are content with feeling this energy
like a great tension which they are eager to release,
they deprive themselves of all the joy love could bring them,
and of all the knowledge and power too.

The life in the lower creation shows the lack of tolerance.
The tendency of fighting with one another, which one sees among beasts and birds, shows the reason at the back of it, that intolerance is born in their nature.
... But when a soul has evolved still more, tolerance becomes the natural thing for him. Because the highly evolved soul then begins to realize
'Another person is not separate from me, but the other person is myself.
The separation is on the surface of life,
but in the depth of life I and the other person are one.'
Therefore tolerance is not learned fully by trying to follow it as a good principle.
It is learned by having the love of God,
by attaining the knowledge of self,

I think it is a good idea to study death because,
as Campbell says, it is
"the prime condition of life."
Life and death are two sides of one coin.
Together- always together- life and death
complement and complete each other.

If we play dumb about death, life loses its vitality and meaning.
We may never fully understand death while we are alive,
but that does not mean that we should fear it,
or deny it, or merely tolerate it with a weary attitude.
Death has so much to teach us- it is our greatest teacher.

When we study death
we see how everything is dying and being reborn as something else,
over and over, every day, everywhere,
in all kingdoms, species, elements, and forms.
Nothing is wasted, everything has its purpose,
all things are connected,
and therefore eternal,
in the vast cycle of birth and death.

When we understand this,
we can let go of our crippling compulsion
to hang on tight to who we think we are
and to what we think we need in order to survive.

We can appreciate how new life
is always born out of the dark fertility of death.

We can enjoy what is given with gusto,
grieve what is lost with passion,
and dwell with humor and faith in the vast,
infinite mystery.

When you find yourself overwhelmed by habitual,
ruminative thinking, in the cascading and looping,
the grooved-in pathways of disembodiment
and self-abandonment appear,
whispering,
“come this way.
It is safe here.”

With the power and presence of the warrior’s sword of compassion,
stand on the rooftop and proclaim,
“No, not this time. This time I choose differently.”

Slow down and feel your feet on the ground.
Breathe deeply into your lower belly.
Shift out of the spinning and into the aliveness of the body.
While it may appear otherwise,
safety is found inside the visitor,
in her core, in his essence,
and is revealed by way of empathic attunement.

It is an act of kindness to not fuel the dysregulating narrative,
a radical act which takes practice, courage,
and the willingness to fail.
Something is erupting under the surface,
longing to be integrated and allowed back home,
but it is uncertain, raw, and unknown.

The invitation is into the shaky interior,
with the breath as guide into the darkened landscape.
Dare to care for yourself in a new way.

claustrophobic, pregnant life
that is surging to be held.
Bear witness to the wisdom unfolding there.

At times,
we must set aside our agenda to understand,

with newer circuitry of empathic holding.

The Breath of Sacred Silence
Beyond all concepts of duality and non-duality
there is only the Breath of Sacred Silence...
Here is neither oneness or two-ness,
only the exquisite Rhythm of
the Infinite Breath
IN which Existence exists.

In this space
everything else falls away -
all breathing falls into The Rhythm
of the Ineffable - the Unknown -
The Mystery...

The inhale and exhale
of the Cosmos,
one Rhythm.
No longer aware of
separation,
only unspeakable Silence
breathing...

The mind tries to hold onto concepts,
through thought patterns,
thought processes;
an automated mechanism
that just runs,
creating scenarios of I/me/other.

BUT
Here - in the river of direct experience,
only the Breath of the Sacred breathes,
unencumbered by thought...

In this space of Grace
there is no sense of
union,
or dissolution,
or surrender...

One is simply - absorbed -
into the Ineffable Breath.
A natural, organic absorption of the whole being
in the ongoing stream of the
Pure Isness of Being...

The Ecstatic Mystery of the Breath of Sacred Silence...
