Let us understand that somewhere, sometime, somehow,
we have accepted a belief that is not part of us,
a belief that there are two powers--
a God-power that can do something for us
and is not doing it,
and a power of evil that is very much in operation.

God-power is already doing all that it can do,
and it is operating in the Edenic state of consciousness
for all spiritual creation,
but it cannot operate in the world of two powers.

That is the reason that as good, moral, and benevolent
as we or our neighbors may be,
we and they come under sin, death, accident, and wars.
But over and over again the question is asked,
“How can such things be if there is a God?”
And the answer is a startling one:
There is a God, but there is no God in the human scene; there is no God in the second chapter of Genesis:

There is only a Lord God which is the law
of cause and effect—karmic law.
When we rise above the law of cause and effect,
we are no longer under the law, but under Grace,
or in other words we are living
in the first chapter of Genesis
where no such thing
as human good or human evil exists.

There is no sin, and there is no purity:
THERE IS JUST GOD.

In The Infinite Way, we do not make suggestions,
we never use the word you in a treatment;
we never use the name of the patient
nor do we take the name of the disease, complaint,
or condition into the treatment,
nor do we let the person enter our thought
after he has asked for help.

Even though we are still in the mental realm
when we contemplate,
it is not about the patient:
It is about God and the things of God that we know,
or the laws of God that we understand
or have read about and are now trying to realize.

We do not expect healing from any of this
because we cannot bring forth the son of God from the second chapter of Genesis,
out of which comes only Adam,
the man of flesh.
The only way that this man of flesh can be restored to Eden and to his normal spiritual harmony
is not by thinking thoughts about him,
but by entering into a state of Silence
which recognizes neither good nor evil.

When we have no desires,
we have no desire for good
any more than we have a desire for evil,
and then we are pure enough
to be in the Garden of Eden which is desireless.

It is not a state of desiring good,
but a contentedness with being.

Randall Friend - An overwhelming sense of Love

The love felt here is overwhelming.
For so many years I struggled and searched -
mostly within the confines of an individual existence.

It is impossible to find the answer you seek
as long as you consider
yourself an individual existence.

My writing is due to an overwhelming sense of Love -
I totally understand where you're coming from.
My impulse to write is due to this love -
this sense that if you could just realize
that your existence isn't separate and transient -
you would see that there is nothing to worry about.

You don't have to suffer.
Suffering is only in the mind.

WHAT you are is Life, Existence itself.
Consciousness arises, and we get sucked into that. Therefore we take ourselves
as the object of Consciousness -
which is actually totally normal,
yet it isn't true.

There is one Existence - one "thing" from which all arises. And you are THAT.
What else could you be?

Consciousness arises like a dream -
and you're there, facing the world.
But that is what you've been led to believe.

Life, the Universe, Brahman,
whatever you want to call it - is dreaming.
It is aware of itself through this dream we call "I".
The true "I" is Life -
aware of itself through this dream.

Wake up - existence isn't transient.
You exist.
This dream is your way of knowing yourself.
And when that dream ends, nothing is lost.
You still exist.

A cigar is slowly burning,
and a glass of bourbon is settling.
These experiences have value -
yet they are not ultimately real.

In an insane world you must be mad to be sane. In an
upside down world true sanity appears as strange and
dangerous. Things are so backwards that it seems impossible
to be happy, that it seems dangerous to love, that it seems as
madness to be honest and authentic.

In this absurd world the only thing that makes any sense is to
be radically authentic to ones self - even if it is the opposite
of society.

The Madman

The one who unquestioningly follows their heart is a madman.
The one who unfailing listens to the soul and heeds its urgings
is the madman.

The madman is dangerous - not that he will physically hurt you,
but he will shatter your illusions. He is unpredictable, wild and
untamed. You will feel uneasy around him because he does not
prop up your house of lies.

She cannot be contained or influenced. You cannot bribe her
with money or status. You cannot control her through fear or
desire.

The madman loves his madness, he does not reject it. For he
knows that his madness is his treasure, is his very life-force
itself. Only the twinkle in his eye betrays the chaotic
kosmos within.

He is mad precisely because he is not mad.
She is utterly natural, spontaneous, unburdened, innocent.

The mind is insane. Society is insane. And the mind is
society's conditioning in you.

Normal" is to be profoundly inwardly sick. Beneath nearly
everyone's smiley mask is a mount of pain, fear, sorrow anger,
anxiety, neuroticism, and insanity. Everyone you see is a
dormant walking volcano that only doesn't erupt because
they have learned to suppress their inner energies.

It is the mind which is truly insane - the mind acting without
the lead of the heart and soul.

The Freedom of Madness

A man needs a healthy dose of madness, else he will never
do anything.....real. If you want to be truly alive and truly
free you must be mad.

Mad to be oneself,
And mad enough to lose oneself.

Mad enough to risk everything for freedom, for truth,
for the heart, for love.
Mad enough to lose all respectability if it means staying
true to life and oneself.

Learn to love your madness, your primordial chaos.
Dare to be ecstatic,
dare to be untamed.

Dare to be the Madman.

The expression ‘odour of sanctity’, which you hear sometimes, does mean something. There are saints, spiritual Masters, who have worked so much on themselves that their psychic bodies emanate real fragrance.

These fragrances are picked up by beings of light in the invisible world, who then rush to breathe them in. In certain cases, it can even happen that particularly sensitive people may sense these fragrances emanating from their soul.

These fragrances also emanate from the soul of those beings who have learned to accept and overcome their suffering. So often, you hear people complaining or shouting in an outraged manner at the slightest disappointment, trouble or injustice!

The suffering they feel is like a burning fire.
But those who consciously accept and remain silent, knowing that through patience and love they are purifying matter in their inner being – those people are also preparing fragrances in their soul.

This is why knowing how to suffer is one of the greatest kinds of knowledge there is, one of the highest manifestations of love.

Wandering Free...

Wandering the woods without a trail,
my focus on finding The Truth
is realized as a self-made illusion.

Not needing to find yet another belief system;
no longer a need for a specific path
cut by others; nor the illusion of
future "enlightenment" through practice,
discipline, or self-control...

Finding comfort in loosening the
constraints of the "spiritual cocoon"
that I wrapped myself in for so long;
even the mantel of meditation
has become too heavy and is unraveling -
becoming frayed... like an old prayer shawl.

Reborn from the Chrysalis of my comforting beliefs,
finding freedom in just BEing ME,
without suffocating concepts or a defined
"spiritual image"; instead finding my true Face...

Anyway, I thought I might take the opportunity to write down every single thing I know, as of today.
All truth is a paradox. Life is a precious unfathomably beautiful gift; and it is impossible here, on the incarnational side of things. It has been a very bad match for those of us who were born extremely sensitive. It is so hard and weird that we wonder if we are being punked. And it filled with heartbreaking sweetness and beauty, floods and babies and acne and Mozart, all swirled together.

2. Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.

3. There is almost nothing outside of you that will help in any kind of last way, unless you are waiting for an organ. You can’t buy, achieve, or date it. This is the most horrible truth.

4. Everyone is screwed up, broken, clingy, and scared,
even the people who seem to have it more or less together. They are much more like you than you would believe.
So try not to compare your insides to their outsides.
Also, you can’t save, fix or rescue any of them, or get any of them sober. But radical self-care is quantum, and radiates out into the atmosphere, like a little fresh air.
It is a huge gift to the world.
When people respond by saying,
“Well, isn’t she full of herself,” smile obliquely,
like Mona Lisa,
and make both of you a nice cup of tea.

5. Chocolate with 70% cacao is not actually a food. It’s best use is as bait in snake traps.

6. Writing: shitty first drafts. Butt in chair. Just do it. You own everything that happened to you. You are going to feel like hell if you never write the stuff that is tugging on the sleeves in your heart–your stories, visions, memories, songs: your truth, your version of things, in your voice. That is really all you have to offer us, and it’s why you were born.

7. Publication and temporary creative successes are something you have to recover from. They kill as many people as not. They will hurt, damage and change you in ways you cannot imagine. The most degraded and sometimes nearly-evil men I have known were all writers who’d had bestsellers. Yet, it is also a miracle to get your work published (see #1.).
Just try to bust yourself gently of the fantasy that publication will heal you, will fill the Swiss cheesy holes. It won’t, it can’t. But writing can. So can singing.

8. Families; hard, hard, hard, no matter how cherished and astonishing they may also be. (See #1 again.) At family gatherings where you suddenly feel homicidal or suicidal, remember that in half of all cases, it’s a miracle that this annoying person even lived. Earth is Forgiveness School. You might as well start at the dinner table. That way, you can do this work in comfortable pants.
When Blake said that we are here to learn to endure the beams of love, he knew that your family would be an intimate part of this, even as you want to run screaming for your cute little life. But that you are up to it. You can do it, Cinderellie. You will be amazed.

9. Food; try to do a little better.

10. Grace: Spiritual WD-40. Water wings. The mystery of grace is that God loves Dick Cheney and me exactly as much as He or She loves your grandchild. Go figure. The movement of grace is what changes us, heals us and our world. To summon grace, say, “Help!” And then buckle up.
Grace won’t look like Casper the Friendly Ghost; but the phone will ring, or the mail will come, and then against all odds, you will get your sense of humor about yourself back. Laughter really is carbonated holiness, even if you are sick of me saying it.

11. God; Goodnesss, Love energy, the Divine, a loving animating intelligence, the Cosmic Muffin. You will worship and serve something, so like St. Bob said, you gotta choose. You can play on our side, or Bill Maher’s and Franklin Graham’s. Emerson said that the happiest person on earth is the one who learns from nature the lessons of worship. So go outside a lot, and look up.
My pastor says you can trap bees on the floor of a Mason jar without a lid, because they don’t look up. If they did, they could fly to freedom

12. Faith: Paul Tillich said the opposite of faith is not doubt, but certainty. If I could say one thing to our little Tea Party friends, it would be this. Fundamentalism, in all its forms, is 90% of the reason the world is so terrifying. 3% is the existence of snakes.
The love of our incredible dogs and cats is the closest most of us will come, on this side of eternity, to knowing the direct love of God; although cats can be so bitter, which is not the god part: the crazy Love is.
Also, “Figure it out” is not a good slogan.

13. Jesus; Jesus would have even loved horrible, mealy mouth self-obsessed you, as if you were the only person on earth. But He would hope that you would perhaps pull yourself together just the tiniest, tiniest bit–maybe have a little something to eat, and a nap.

15. Death; wow. So f-ing hard to bear, when the few people you cannot live without die. You will never get over these losses, and are not supposed to. We Christians like to think death is a major change of address, but in any case, the person will live fully again in your heart, at some point, and make you smile at the MOST inappropriate times.
But their absence will also be a lifelong nightmare of homesickness for you.
All truth is a paradox. Grief, friends, time and tears will heal you. Tears will bathe and baptize and hydrate you and the ground on which you walk. The first thing God says to Moses is, “Take off your shoes.”

Nature's Peace

When despair for the world grows in me

AFTERNOON

Being open to what is
really living this Life called "me" - and - at the same time,
allowing myself to just be the way I am. As Ramana Maharshi
said to those who were searching for the Truth of their being -
"Be as you are..."

In letting go of the need to look through a
particular "spiritual" lens, I realize how freeing it is to allow
myself to just be myself... To not strive to know the Truth,
but to let it reveal ItSelf; to not strive to be "spiritual" or
"non-dual" - or "enlightened." I can just be who I am -
as that is who my true "Beingness" IS. I don't have to be
self-conscious about using words like "I", "me", "my" - in
some kind of pseudo non-dual awareness - because... It's all
just Beingness, pure Awareness, pure Consciousness, Source,
God, etc., expressing ItSelf. There's no need to make a
distinction between self and Self. It's all The Self...
Imagine that :)

I don't need to worry about whether I'm coming from the ego-
self because it's part of the whole package, part of the
wholeness that we are. I only need to BE, and let
BEingness reveal ItSelf, express ItSelf, live Itself as "me."

It's not about "me" being "enlightened", or spiritualizing
everything, but seeing the True Nature of myself and
being authentic...

I continue to gradually shed the conceptual frameworks that
have defined informed my "path" so far - the boxes of belief
that have tended to constrain this authentic expression of Self,
extricating my sense of self from the life dramas that have
preoccupied my mind.

This shift in consciousness may take
some time, and I don't know where I will land, realizing that
Life is truly a Sacred Adventure of just Being,
and adventure in lightness and boldness;
of letting go of the sack of insignificant items/beliefs
that I've been carrying for so long...
It's a never-ending exploration...

Carving out a "Path"...

Life is asking me to redefine "the path" - again - to deepen
into a "new" way of seeing, being and living. I am
embarking on what feels like a new step into the unknown,
carving out a "path" for myself, opening to new directions,
new perspectives, new awareness.

Being open to what is
