because God sustains even our nothingness.

Thus where our nothingness comes to an end
we finally meet God,
only this time we meet God on His Ground,
not on our ground.

Fire Season, Again

On fire here, again. Burning 20 minutes from my home and uncontrolled, and uncontrollable, according to our Fire Chief, because they have no one to fight it. All they are doing is moving people out of its path and hoping for fog or rain, which is not forecast. Terrifying.

The air goes from grayish yellow to orange. It is filled with tiny bits of people's homes and memories, and the lungs hurt when it is drawn in. I slept all night but find it hard to keep my eyes open this morning. Stress reaction. I'm not sure how much danger I am in, no one is until the call comes to evacuate.

I tried saying my Rosary this morning, and got through one decade, but kept falling asleep. I imagine the lines to Mary are jammed this morning. Fortunately I know that, while the Rosary may be my line to her, it is not her line to me.

These are the worst times to be alone in your house. The mind with all its worries tries to take over. So I decided to write to you instead.

Please pray with me for the firefighters and the devastated people whose homes are gone or whose homes are next. And please, pray for a surprising rain or fog. And remember, as I've said before, that ours is not a God that saves us from things, ours is a God who goes through things with us. I'll end with words that Joe Biden quoted from Søren Kierkegard last night, "Faith sees best in the dark".

DEEP SURRENDER

This morning while I took this pose
I thought about reaching my hand towards the heavens and God
while my other hand was grounded into the earth.

It is why I practice.
What I reflect upon while when I practice.
And it was just a beautiful morning!

We had a big dustorm blow thru last night followed by a lot of thunder and lightning.
The winds were really strong and our neighborhood
lost some trees and light posts it was so big.
This morning was calm and beautiful.

Blue skies were dotted with fluffy clouds.
Isn't that what life is like too?
Turbulent experiences and magical moments
like with you on the beach that touch our souls
and forever shape our perspective
and help us appreciate the beauty around us
and within us?!?!

I imagined myself grounding into the earth during life's storms
and reaching to the heavens to touch the Divine.

Two Movements of Spiritual Life

Once again I would emphasize that the contemplative life is composed
of two separate and entirely different movements:
one of integration or the finding of the self;
and one of disintegration or the losing of the self.

In a religious context this would be
the movement toward union with God-as-object,
followed by the second movement
toward identity or God-as-subject.

Of the two movements,
it is far more likely that the movement toward union
would culminate in experiences of personal deification,
because further on,
the experience of personal selfhood
– on which personal deification depends -
falls away.

It is this very experience of
no personal self and no personal God
that composes
the second movement.

Thus it does away with any possibility of a mistaken identity,
especially when everything we thought we knew is taken away
in a state of complete unknowing.

The solitary life, being silent, clears away the smoke-screen of words
that man has laid down between his mind and things.

In solitude we remain face to face with the naked being of things.

And yet we find that the nakedness of reality which we have feared,
is neither a matter of terror nor for shame.

It is clothed in the friendly communion of silence,
and this silence is related to love.

The world our words have attempted to classify, to control and even
to despise (because they could not contain it) comes close to us,
for silence teaches us to know reality by respecting it
where words have defiled it.

When we have lived long enough alone with the reality around us,
our veneration will learn how to bring forth a few good words
about it from
the silence which is
the mother of Truth.

Words stand between silence and silence:
between the silence of things and
the silence of our own being.

Between the silence of the world
and the silence of God.

When we have really met and known the world in silence,
words do not separate us from the world nor from other men,
nor from God, nor from ourselves because we no longer
trust entirely in language to contain reality.

Then, sinking again into silence, the truth of words

All we can truly tell is our own story--
what makes us live and gives us meaning.

And our own story is our greatest gift to life,
if we can find the thread,
the song of our own unique story,
and untangle it from the stories around us,
especially the dark dreams of consumerism,
the collective stories of greed and desire,
that are destroying the web of life.

If we can return to and uncover
the essential story of our own existence,
we can give what is real back to the Earth,
which craves this simple nourishment,
this songline of a soul.

The Earth in her endless generosity
has given us life
and the opportunity to live our story,
and so we return this gift,
this note of love.

Many years ago I was shown
how this can be an offering
on the altar of life:

Wait till you feel your own story like a dream,
like a possibility,
and then give it to the Earth
as an offering.

Give your own story to the Earth as an offering,
full of meaning, full of possibilities,
and full of the song of the soul,
that ancient song,
so ancient it was
born before the beginning
and yet also knows the meaning of time.

The Earth has been so much cut up
that it needs again to know wholeness,

Because we are at the end of an era,
a time of dying,
we are also at a beginning.
This is the nature of time
that is not linear but cyclical,
like the seasons and the sun.

As we watch our systems fail
we have a simple choice of whether to remain
with these patterns of
human and ecological abuse.

that recognizes the sacred nature of all creation?

There are signs of this second path

BEING THE BLACK SHEEP

The black sheep has an immense responsibility put on them,
from themselves,
to step out of the pack.
They lead the family lineage
into the next chapter
of their ancestors’ journey.

It requires strength, courage, persistence, trust and grace.
Not only have they chosen a path of self discovery,
they are unveiling
generations of trauma
and
opportunities for healing.

These people are the visionaries, healers, artists, creatives, architects, empaths, musicians and lovers.
The ones that break the mould.

Usually ostracized
and
made to feel different by families,
especially those who are conservative and traditional.

It can be subtle.
Never truly feeling like you belong in the family
you’re born into.
Unconsciously spending much of your time
trying to bridge that gap and ‘fit in’.

Most cultures that held onto their traditions
including deep philosophy, ancient knowledge
and connection to all parts of the universe
have been hunted and murdered.

Horrendous acts that are still happening today.

The presence of rebellion in the family
is here to see through the illusion
of socially enforced normality.

Acknowledge the deep unseen love
of the family unit
and go to the places others
aren’t brave enough to go.

Representing the will of the collective
ancestral wisdom to bring unity and love
to all aspects of themselves.

The black sheep has always been
here to push the evolution of the tribe.
To explore new territory and bring through
new ideas and ways of survival.

The ones able to think creatively
and take risks.
This is how we evolve as a collective.

The exploration of our global tribe
is branching out in
an overwhelming number of ways.

Exposing us to deep suppression
of
shadows and unspoken.

All reflecting back to us
deeper elements of ourselves.

.....the realisation that the dream seeker
is also oneness is liberation,

This is all there is.

There is no me or you,
no seeker,
no enlightenment,
no disciple and
no guru .

There is no better or worse,
no path or purpose,
and nothing that has to be achieved.

All appearance is source.

All that apparently manifests
in the hypnotic dream of separation --
the world, the life story, the search for home,
is one appearing as two
the nothing appearing as everything,
the absolute appearing as the particular.

There is no separate intelligence
weaving a destiny
and no choice

Nothing is happening but this,

invites the apparent seeker

I was pondering recently
about all the work that
has been needed ...

To translate the various
sacred literatures from
sources and cultures
of all different beliefs...

Around the entire world,
since words were first
recorded, in the most
ancient of all
languages...

So we may understand,
the beauty of these
experiences, told in
all these strange
tongues...

I have some news for all
those scribes and the
translators throughout
the centuries...

They needed not ink,
nor pen or any paper
at all...

No, they should have just
felt winter, spring, summer
and fall...

They only needed to listen,
to the sweet sound of
the rain...

Marvel, as the ocean tides,
rise and fall, again
and again...

Feel the joy of watching
the sun, rise and set...

Observe the moons crescent
grow, even fuller, still yet...

Simply, taste snow, floating
down from the sky...

Gaze at a snowflake, up
close with your eye...

Run through the sand, on
the beach, on a clear
starry night...

Watch the beauty, of the
mystical Butterfly,
softly alight...

None of these need
any translation, no,
it’s not even a
close call...

Behold, they already
speak purely, the most
beautiful language
of all...
