Why is it that some people’s perception,
lucidity and clarity of mind increase over time,
even into old-age, while in others, to the contrary,
they dwindle very rapidly?

Because consciously or unconsciously,
the former have from very early on
acquired the habit of connecting with Cosmic Intelligence.
They believe in it,
they open themselves up to it, they love it,
and little by little it reveals itself to them,
for it is attracted by this love.

Whereas the others,
not acknowledging any signs of this intelligence in the universe,
close off the path to true understanding.
They believe that they can rely solely
on their limited intellectual faculties,
but as these are not connected to a power supply,
they soon wane.

So everyone has a choice:
the path taken by all the materialist scientists and philosophers,
or
the path taken by those
who have learned to place spirit first.

From early on,
they developed the habit of drawing upon
the infinite ocean of Cosmic Intelligence,
and every day,
they receive revelations.

The people who are in touch with the deep soul
are the very ones who do real good in the world.
Those who are more concerned with ‘doing good’
than with finding & loving their own deep souls
end up unable to really help others.

Your self-knowledge & self-love
are the most unselfish gifts you can give to another.

It takes an odd combination of backbone & abandon
to walk the path of the heart.

Jesus told his disciples to be ‘lights unto the world.’
A tender heart & a brave soul
light up the path for others
with the kind of luminosity that heals & enlivens.

So don’t worry about being good.
Instead,
discover how both good & bad live within you.
Deeply accept the shadows as you seek the light…..

AFTERNOON

A creative dissolution
One of the common ways alchemical work begins
is through the operation of solutio,
where the solid and fixed material of our lives dissolves
and returns to its original state,
becoming raw material for imagination.

While we might romanticize this washing away,
it comes with a certain devastation.
It is not oriented in improving our lives, positive thinking,
or what we would ordinarily think of as self-development,
but is a required “darkening” we must go through
so that we can begin our work anew,
with fresh vision.

In contemplating the various solutio moments of my own life,
they were not times of peace, joy, and contentment,
but of revolution where I wasn’t quite sure
if I would make it through to the other side.
In many ways, I did not,
at least the “me” who was there
at the start of the process.

Without the healing waters of dissolution,
we remain stuck in habitual consciousness,
unaware of and run by the unconscious lenses
through which we engage self, others, and world.

It is through the illumination of these reality-tunnels
that we can harness the creative,
magical power of the imagination,
dream a new dream,
and weave a more majestic story.

To discover new lenses
by which to open our senses
to the qualities of the sacred world.
