....when we know that nothing is personal, a magical thing happens.
Many of the seeming abusers of the world start to leave our lives.
Once we are conscious, so-called abuse can only happen
if we believe what the other is saying.
we also do not end up feeling abused.
We can say, “Thank you for sharing,” and move on.
We are not hooked by what another does or says, since we know it is not about us.
we can take the world a little less seriously.
without creating more misery for ourselves
or having to convince the other person
that we are good and worthy people.

The Dark Goddess
Just the phrase brings images of a Kali, breathing fire and shaking old skulls to ward off the enemy.
Thus, the dilemma of our time. From the myth of Lilith to the story of Mary of Magdalene, we have been given images of the female as something threatening and dark, unholy, unenlightened, female as transgressor. The opposite being the pure and chaste images of the Virgin Mary--asexual, unemotional, antisepticised from all human emotion or quality other than pure white love.
But in recent times, we have been witnessing the emergence of something heretofore unknown….the Goddess who is made of the Dark Light of God. Not to be confused with evil, this is the feminine quality of the Divine composed of what the physicists call anti-matter, or the black matter of the universe. As we speak, the scientific community of esoteric physicists is attempting to understand the composition of this dark matter. It makes up at least 80% of the universe, yet its true nature is still unknown.
As I was reading about this discovery within the world of physics, it struck me that perhaps this dark matter of the universe is in fact the female quality of God, the Dark Shekinah who exists in stealth behind the 20% of revealed light (the ‘male’ quality of God?)
The return of Lilith to her rightful place as equal but different, powerful but not overpowering, is at hand. We have not seen this possibility since the beginning of time when, in the first chapter of Genesis, the first creation story occurs. This version is rarely, if ever, utilized. In fact many people do not even know that there are two creation stories in the Bible. This first creation story is brief, succinct and to the point, only two sentences long, yet containing the potent creative force of the universe.
From this story, many myths have evolved. The Babylonian Rabbis relate that the first woman was in fact, not Eve, but Lilith. Lilith, the container of dark and light, and who was split apart such that only light continued on. The dark is not necessarily bad or evil, but merely not seen, like the back of the moon when it shines its light upon us. It must be reclaimed in order for humanity to be healed.
We are afraid of the Dark, fearing it to be dangerous. As perhaps it is, if we do not truly understand it. And we fear what we do not understand.
In the ying/yang symbol, the dark half is the female side, another clue to this hidden treasure that longs to be known. In the Hindu tradition, the Goddess Kali stands with swords and skulls hanging from her arms. And yet she is revered. She stands as the hidden protector, the force field that repels all things dangerous and unseen. She is the protector of the unseen. She stands as the strong vessel who can contain her male counterpart, she is strong but quiet.
She is gentle and mighty.
She does not try to be a man, but is the ultimate feminine who can contain all the men in her world with grace and ease, knowing each to his own; faithful and empowering her true King from the unseen place so that he may feel strong and potent in the world; sitting in the presence of royalty without apology; directing the work when a strong quality is necessary, remaining unseen when it is not; honoring and allowing the exquisite male quality to express itself without allowing herself to be taken advantage of or used for distorted purpose.
Such is the Dark Goddess. She is misunderstood, she protects us from what we do not see and therefore she must live in the dark, standing behind us where we cannot see her. She has thus been determined as less than, as inferior. But she is the opposite, always present. Just as the sun is always present on the other side of the earth even when night falls for us. Just because we cannot see something does not mean it is not there.
It is time to transform this concept of the dark. In fact the greatest evil often dresses itself up in white and comes to us in the disguise of ‘help’ or ‘spirituality’ when all it wants is to feed its own narcissistic needs.
The Dark Goddess does not hate men, but rather loves them and heals them. She knows she is entirely equal, even when they do not. But she knows that she is made of a different substance. Lioness of the deep, she does not need to explain anything. She just is, powerfully taking the reins when necessary, allowing those around her to rest, to let go, to stop efforting, knowing that she does not need anything from her beloveds.
She is whole and complete, filled with hidden nourishment, but only for those with eyes to see or a heart to feel. She is in non-willful giving all the time, never pushing herself onto others. She just makes the safe and sacred space, completely allowing for the great dark space to be filled by the other and in that space they find themselves, they help themselves, they find their own answers. But only within the sanctuary of the Goddess.
In reality, the Dark Goddess is the opposite of a threat. She is the protector of her beloveds, her children, her man, from the unseen dangers which they cannot see…but only if they will let her. Threatened not by male power, she allows it and cherishes it without letting her own power be robbed in the process....she knows male and female are two pillars of power, standing side by side, or rather front and back, equal but different.
Surrender to her and life will be a transformed.
