Odyssey is a noble image for the mysterious process
we call a human life.
This journey is a soul voyage.
Each of us is on such a journey,
embracing both the concrete situation of our lives
and an inner pilgrimage as well.
but at the same time we are challenged to deal with the past,
the world the dead have made for us,
and the deep inner life
that is under and beyond the literal events
that absorb our attention.
on the external details of this journey.
or at least the symbolic life expressed
in the poetry of our actions
and the events of our lives,
the inner world doesn’t vanish,
in our neglect...
it gathers strength
as it continues to influence us.
it cycles and twists,
repeats and reprises,
echoing ancient themes
common to all human beings.
It is always circling home.
a floating toward home,
not an evolution toward perfection….

AFTERNOON....
from Carolyn Baker Review of Paul Levy's book:
Dispelling Wetiko: Breaking The Curse Of Evil~
its eradication begins with ourselves.
We need to become intimately acquainted
with our own shadow
and the difference between
what Jung called
the daemon in us and the demon.
“is the urge in every human being to affirm itself,
assert itself,
and perpetuate itself;
it is the voice of the generative process
within an individual.” (16)
Moreover, the channels available to us in industrial civilization
for utilizing and fulfilling the daemonic
are denied at worst and stifled at best.
if the daemonic is not honored and treated as sacred,
it becomes demonic and destructive.
Thus, loving our creativity and nurturing it
is an enormous asset
in transforming both internal and external darkness.
is when we are in touch with our true nature,
our inherent wholeness
which Jung called the Self.
The real “cure” for wetiko from Levy’s perspective
is a radical shift in consciousness and an awareness that
“there is no place to take refuge, except in the true nature of our being.”
(40)
unlimited wholeness, and the unity of all things
constitutes the framework of a new paradigm
that liberates us from the old story
of industrial civilization and signals the termination
of our engagement with the collective psychosis.

for More Re: Wetiko Virus
a parasite of the mind,
that is currently being acted out en masse on the world stage
via a collective psychosis of titanic proportions
. This mind-virus
─which Native Americans have called “wetiko”─
covertly operates through the unconscious blind spots in the human psyche, rendering people oblivious to their own madness
and compelling them to act against their own best interests.
An inner cancer of the soul,
wetiko flavors and manages our perceptions by stealth and subterfuge
so as to act itself out through us
while simultaneously hiding itself from being seen.
Not constrained
by the conventional laws of third-dimensional space and time,
this ‘bug’ in the system deceives us by working
with the intrinsic projective tendencies of our mind
so as to appear external to and other than ourselves,
utilizing the seemingly outside world
as the canvas for its full-bodied revelation of itself.
Wetiko nonlocally in-forms,
gives shape to and configures events in the world
so as to synchronistically express itself,
which is to say that just like in a dream,
events in the outer world are symbolically reflecting
a condition deep within the psyche of humanity.
Drawing on insights from Jungian psychology, shamanism, alchemy, spiritual wisdom traditions, and personal experience,
author Paul Levy shows us that hidden within the venom of wetiko
is a revelation as well as its own antidote,
which once recognized can help us wake up
and bring sanity back to our society.
How wetiko manifests
─will it destroy our species,
or will it catalyze a deeper process of global awakening?─
depends upon recognizing
what it is revealing to us about ourselves.

“The daemonic,” says Levy, “is the urge in every human being to affirm itself, assert itself, and perpetuate itself; it is the voice of the generative process within an individual.” (16) Moreover, the channels available to us in industrial civilization for utilizing and fulfilling the daemonic are denied at worst and stifled at best.
However, if the daemonic is not honored and treated as sacred, it becomes demonic and destructive. Thus, loving our creativity and nurturing it is an enormous asset in transforming both internal and external darkness.
Our greatest protection, according to Levy, is when we are in touch with our true nature, our inherent wholeness which Jung called the Self. The real “cure” for wetiko from Levy’s perspective is a radical shift in consciousness and an awareness that “there is no place to take refuge, except in the true nature of our being.” (40)
The result is a new kind of logic that knows that interdependence, unlimited wholeness, and the unity of all things constitutes the framework of a new paradigm that liberates us from the old story of industrial civilization and signals the termination of our engagement with the collective psychosis.

We have to work out the details of our lives,
but at the same time we are challenged to deal with the past,
the world the dead have made for us,

Our age seems obstinately focused on the external details of this journey.
As we ignore the inner life,

the inner world doesn’t vanish,
