Every word of truth that we hear or read should be
taken into our consciousness
as if it were a seed,
and there nourished and fed.

It should be fertilized with meditation and by pondering
and putting it into practice,
until in a moment of stillness and silence
the seed can break open,
take root,
and begin to bear fruit.

Your true Self is awareness before it is aware of any object.
The true Self is silence, stillness, peace.
Simply rest in that as much as you can.
Look beyond thinking and sensing.

Thinking and sensing are temporary
and so are not real at all on an absolute level.
But the simple awareness of the now I am is eternal,
unchanging and filled with unconditional happiness
and unbounded joy.

Rest in the serene silence of this Self.
Abide there always.
That is who you have always been and who you will always be
in this one eternal now of God.

If you have ever tasted this silence,
return to it again and again.

Eventually you will realize
that there has never been anywhere else to go,
and there you will remain.
To live always conscious of this consciousness,
to live forever aware of this awareness,
is itself the great awareness.

Let this mind be in you, the mind that is no-mind.
This profound silence and stillness is itself the true Self,
the supreme identity which is no-identity,
the true Self which is no-self.
Just be that always.

Be who you are.
After all,
who else could you
possibly ever be?

Be silent and then listen to that silence
without any words at all.
If you don’t understand that silence
you won’t understand the true import
of a single word in this book,
not really.

 AFTERNOON

The sage is old enough now
to see through success and failure.

These illusions no longer dominate
The sage has climbed up ladders,
climbed down ladders,
and fallen from ladders.

Now, with
feet firmly on the ground,
the sage is ready to be of service to others,
not to get something from them,
but for the pure pleasure of it.

We have traded services for money all our life.
We have forgotten the joy of serving
simply because it is our nature.

As a sage we may still be paid for our services,
but it is no longer the determining factor.

When the opportunity for service arises
we no longer weigh the possible return.

We are free to serve
according to our nature.

As long as one remains identified with the body,
One wants to be occupied with actions, because
It is too uncomfortable to acknowledge
One's powerlessness to do anything.

People wrongly believe that
Seeing that "me" is an illusion ends the illusion.
This is only the recognition of the illusions as illusion.
It takes its power away.

Yet, the illusion, the lifestream, continues.
The Self observes a self.
This is key.

See that any "me" making any effort only
Produces more "me".

Words.
At the spoken level,
They are sounds.

At the subtle level,
They are thoughts.

At the silent level.
They are gone.

It is in this silence,
From this silence, that
All arises.
****

It is only resistance that impedes acceptance.
As the dam impedes the river's flow,
Resistance impedes the flow of What-Is.

To drop all resistance is
To embrace What-is,
Just as it is,
Without it having to be
Other than it is.

All of life is then welcomed.
