In true prayer, although every silent moment remains the same,
every moment is a new discovery of a new silence,
a new penetration into that eternity in which all things are always new.

Advice on keeping joy moving through you.

Sufis call the wantings nafs.
From the urgent way lovers want each other to the sannyasin's search for truth,
all moving is from the mover.
Every pull draws us to the ocean.
Rumi says it's important
to live the wantings as they come
and not get stuck somewhere,
stagnant.

He was asked once what to do about a young man
caught doing some indecent act.
The story doesn't mention what exactly — masturbation, peeping-tomming, whatever wild wantings young men think to do.

Rumi told them not to worry about it.
'It just means he's growing his feathers.
The dangerous case is a kid who doesn't do indecent acts,
who then leaves the nest without feathers.
One flap and the cat has him.'

Be careful, Rumi suggests,
about shaming sexual behavior in an adolescent
or anyone who hasn't yet has his or her fill of erotic trancing.
Often, the closest we come to surrender is orgasm.
In Rumi's symbology the rooster is a symbol for that energy.

"So how did Husam kill his rooster?
By dissolving into the play.
The nafs are energies that keep us moving,
stopping nowhere.
Union with the divine continually unfolds.
Next to the glowing drive-in movie,
the junkyard's rusted stacks of old desire-bodies.

Let the beauty we love keep turning into action,
transmuting to another, another.
What have I ever lost by dying?
Rumi asks, exchanging one set of nafs for the next.

Chopping rooster energy becomes another dining room story.

To become empty
is self renunciation, and Silence is the only way.

All I know is that it is

and then I am back at the center of my being

When problems of any sort come that tempt us
to be hypnotized once again by the
appearance of good and evil and to
step right outside Eden,
we must remember that moments
like these require fortitude.

This is also when the grace of God
comes forward to enable us to stand fast
in our spiritual integrity and the truth of
“no-power.”

It is only the knowledge of good and evil that keeps
an individual from the holy kingdom.

Discipline is a much misused concept.
It is usually used to imply some sort of control
to get ourselves or someone else to do something
we or they really don’t want to do.
Often punishment of some sort is part of the mix as well.
This effort produces the illusion of results
and we can keep ourselves or others “in line” as long as we don’t let up.

A deeper, earlier, and more authentic definition of discipline is;
“the commitment of oneself to a field of study or activity
in order to become proficient and comfortable with that activity.”

Discipline, then, is something that arises naturally
and serves as a guideline, the parameters of a commitment,
that enables us to move easily along the path that is ours.
The discipline of others follows along the same way;
helping others in their commitment
to their own path in life.

The Story of Baubo

Baubo is the Greek Goddess
whose mouth is her vulva
and
her nipples her eyes.
She is the bringer of belly laughs and the sensual tide
of voluptuously sumptuous hips.
She is also the one who brought a smile to Demeters face
as a broken heart melted with defeat.
Baubo is the one who inspired Demeter with dirty womanly secrets

The Hara is the center of the etheric or chi body.
It is about an inch in diameter and is the gateway into the ocean of chi.
Around the Hara and with it as the center there is an envelope of energy called the ‘tan tien’. This tan tien is a ball of etheric energy about the size of a soccer ball.
